Indigo Workshop Venue - FINAL CHANGE:

This is the venue we hosted Rachel and Mardi in last time, a converted church, big and airy. It's in an odd location in the warehouse district of West Asheville. You will park at the foot of Waynesville Street in the dirt lots, and walk up the hill. The gates are on the right and easy to spot by the large "skull and crossbones/ogre warning".

We will be getting into the venue at 9:30am sharp, and need to be out by 5:30. Workshop attendees are numerous, so let us be considerate as a community about how we park and use class space. Bring water and snacks as there will be very short breaks between classes.

We have several vendors: Beledi Boutique with tribal staples and imports, and Ocean will be here from Florida with their incredible Asher designs. If you get lost or otherwise confused, call Onca at 828 232 2980!

Drum Solo Improv with Rachel Brice 10:00-12:00
Feeling at ease with rhythm, tempo, and dynamics is an important part of a satisfying improvisational performance. This workshop will re-acquaint you with the basic rhythms for Belly Dance, will include up-tempo drills and short phrases for drum solos, and lead-and-follow improvisation. We will begin and end with short, gentle Viniyoga practices.
May be considered physically challenging. Please don't eat 1.5 hours before class. Bring comfortable stretchy layers for warming up and cooling down, a yoga mat, and a water bottle. All levels are welcome.

Sweet and Saucy Combos with Mardi Love 12:30-2:30
Mardi brings fresh new combinations! All movements are carefully broken down, and thoroughly drilled. Mardi also discusses how she approaches the audience and stage presence.

Shimmy and Spin with Zoe Jakes 3:00-5:00
Shim Sham Shimmy! Pt. 1-Layering, walking, combinations, lots of tips and tools of the trade to get your absolute best shimmy ever! 3/4 shimmies, overshimmies, travelling steps to make your head spin!
Spins till your head spins Pt. 2-just like the title says, all those spins ya love and how to do them....kick spins, off balance spins, whip spins, reverse turns, double whip spins.....Whew!
